HERE IS A VERY COOL, VERY THICK AND VERY HEAVY BRASS PLAQUE WITH RED CLOISONNE ENAMEL ON ITS SHIELD. ITS CELEBRATING THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMPANY, AND IT WAS MADE TO OPERATE AS A PAPERWEIGHT ON A “CLIPBOARD” (NO CLIP, DUE TO THE PAPERWEIGHT). IT MEASURES APPROX. 3/16″ THICK, PLUS 6″ WIDE X 2 1/4″ TALL (AT THE CREST). THE LEFT QUARTER IS SLIGHTLY BENT OUT OF SHAPE, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE LAST TWO PHOTOS. HOWEVER, THAT’S NOT REALLY VISIBLE FROM THE “STRAIGHT ON” VIEW OF THE PLAQUE. THE PAPERWEIGHT HAS A WONDERFUL LOOK, INCLUDING A DARKER PATINA. IT ALSO HAS RED GUILLOCHE ENAMEL DETALS ON THE CREST / SHIELD (CENTERPIECE). AS A WHOLE, THE PLAQUE IS STILL IN GOOD OVERALL CONDITION. THE PICTURES ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. George Catlin was an American lawyer, painter, author, and traveler, who specialized in portraits of Native Americans in the American frontier. PLEASE LOOK AT PHOTOS Good Condition. This is a group lot of 9 Farmers’ National Bank, Malone NY postal cards from cashier, Wm. F. Creed. (see bio below). 5 are dated in 1879, 3 are from 1880, and the last is from 1890 when Creed had moved on and O.S. Lawrence was cashier. All are addressed to D.E. Denneen of Fort Covington NY. They measure 5 x 3″.BIO: William F. Creed (1845 – November 8, 1903) of Malone NY was appointed auditor at the Manhattan Custom House by Daniel Magone, the Collector of the Port of New York. Later he was the deputy New York State Superintendent of Banks. He was born in 1845 and was a CASHIER AT THE FARMERS NATIONAL BANK OF MALONE, NY. He died on November 8, 1903 in Plattsburgh, NY.NOTES ON O.S. LAWRENCE: In 1910 when he was Treasurer for Franklin County NY he was arrested and charged with misappropriating funds belonging to the county.
