8000 Watertown, NY 1880s/90s signatures in book Jefferson County Savings Bank !
A massive 12 inch by 18 inch leather bound book that when opened is an imposting 26 inches wide by 18 inches high. It also has a cloth cover This book was signed by 8,000 Watertown, New York (Jefferson County) and area residents from May of 1885 to 1892. This is a signature book for The Jefferson County Savings Bank. Each depositor signed the book after being assigned a number. They entered their residence and occupation, the names of their father and mother, the year they were born (often just the day and month), the names of husband or wife and information, as applicable in a remarks column. I google mapped many of the street addresses and confirm they are valid Watertown, NY addresses. There are serveral tipped-in notes regarding account administration including a nce one from Sackets Harbor dated Octobe 29, 1890. There are 500 pages with sixteen signatures per page, for a total of 8,000. The labeling on the book indicates that this was the signature book for signatures 14,600 to 22,599. This book is a wealth of information about who lived in the town and area, where they were employed, who their parents were and where they lived. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING!
